Question by dolfinlover4321: Has anyone actually been successful in an “at home business”?
I want to be home with my kids. My boyfried is in the Navy and his schedule is unpredictable. For me to get a full time job would not be a good idea. I live 45 minutes a way from the nearest Walmart, if that gives you any indication of my little rural town. Just getting to work would be an hour or more of driving. Every daycare place that I have called closes at 6:00. If I am running late, there was an accident on the freeway, need to work overtime… I don’t have any family or friends that can help me with the kids if my man is on deployment.
Anyway, I’ve been looking on line about “work at home” type businesses, but there are so many and it’s so confusing!! Help Me!!

First of all, you need a website or blog or something. If you do not have one, go to blogspot.com or wordpress.com, and create one. Then go to http://www.google.com/adsense, and request an account. Once your account is approved, you can put adsense on your website.
To get traffic, and search engine ranking, you need lots of good and original content, and lots of incoming links to your website.
Depending on the amount of traffic on your website, and the finetuning of your adsense ads, you will earn more or less money.

I understand you write articles but after that I just don’t understand the other stuff:
For example what does this mean “using keywords can drive targeted traffic into their sites from the search engine”???

Google basically posts ads for many companies since there’re a lot of users using google and there is a good chance people will run into these ads. The ads are usually placed on the side when people do a search. Google automatically tries to match certain ads with the keywords that people search to try to interest people in some company’s product. When people click on the ads x amount of times, google charges the company a fee for the clicks the ads received.

Basically its just an advertising business.
