There are many ‘ready-made’ work at home opportunities available on the internet. They seem to multiply more quickly than rabbits on fertility drugs. Yet how do you keep a level head when presented with so many tantalizing promises? The advertising is persuasive – whether it’s a picture of exotic beaches, or a fancy car, or a big home – or simply large dollar figures given apparent credibility by being as specific as possible – in the vein of ‘I made $189,567,20 cents in 14.65 days’.
If we understand what we are going to need to do to turn those offers from zipped up files on our hard drives, to cash in the bank, it becomes much easier to evaluate the true cost – and opportunity – of a product.
Lets look at the different types of instant online offers.
Network Marketing
Network marketing is often presented with lucrative figures based on potential earnings with a large downline. The companies offer the products, which usually require an autoship purchase, or monthly membership fee, to qualify to earn income. The products themselves cover all fields, from vitamins, to real estate investing, the stock market, travel, and even New Age material. There are aklso information product MLM offers.
Due to the high individual cost of the products, it is rarely feasible to make retail sales. The substantial commissions that are paid over multi-levels is factored into the price of the products, which thus inflates their retail dollar value.
Network marketing companies have tried to get around this by offering products that are unusual. They may have used research to develop products which don’t have any ready comparison in the marketplace. Or they take certain herbs or ingredients and package them in a different formula, and then use clever marketing to convince people that they are worth the higher price. More recently, there seems to have been a trend towards information products that don’t have a ready value – or that people will pay a premium for.
Yet there are a few drawbacks to network marketing, aside from the lack of a viable retail product:
it’s very competitive to succeed requires quite a learning curve in closing leads, finding prospects, writing good ads – to name a few generally, the product range is quite limited. You have the dual task of finding a product you can live with, and finding an opportunity that matches your criteria in terms of the commission structure, the network structure, and other related behind-the-scenes aspects the training is not usually that great
Resell Rights
Resell rights usually relate to ebooks, although you can find resell rights for other information products as well. Resell rights involve paying a certain sum to acquire the right to sell that product. Usually, the product itself comes with a sales letter, some come with other sales aids, and a website from which to sell it.
Depending on whether limited resell rights were offered – and whether you are able to sell the resell rights as well (which can quickly devalue a product as every blade of grass seems to suddenly be offering it), this can be a good business starter.
It does however, require a greater degree of knowledge than the other options. You need to know how to upload the ebook, set up the order and digital delivery process, accept payments, and provide customer service. You also really need to be careful about the type of product – and resell rights license – that you purchase, for the reasons I listed above.
Ready-Made Adsense Sites And Other Turnkey Sites
Turnkey sites have been around for awhile, and they generally don’t do very well at all. Given the way search engine algorithms work these days, you really need original content on your website to get any significant natural search traffic. So, your only real alternative with turn key sites is to use pay per click advertising to drive traffic to your site. And to do that successfully, you need a site that converts visitors into sales well. If you’re experienced enough that you can see whether a site will convert well, and good enough at using pay per click traffic, then you wouldn’t need a turn key site to start with. You’d probably be using affiliate marketing and have your own website.
Ready-made adsense sites are a little different in that there is usually a limit to the number sold, and you have the capacity to change the content on them. If you’re prepared to put in the work to do that, they can be successful. If you just want to upload it and hope for the best, you’ll come up against the same problem that face the other types of turnkey websites – namely, they will be identical to hundreds of other wbsites – or more. You’ll have a hard time ranking well in organic search, and it’s unlikely to bring that much traffic.
There’s a problem that is common to all of these instant solutions, and that is you don’t get to choose the topic your business will be about. It is so much easier to put in the work needed in topics you love, and preferably have some knowledge on. Instant solutions are never the whole picture – they all require a lot of marketing to make money. Without traffic, you just have another website sitting in cyberspace, the equivalent of a ghost town. It’s very easy to be lulled into the promises made by those advertising these options. But the reality is that buying instant business offers is only the start. If you don’t know how to drive traffic to them, you have no business, and no income.
With the website builders around at the moment, it is not that difficult to build your own website. If you do this, and learn how to rank well in the search engines – first,by building sites that the search engines like – you can always add in these options later. By that stage, you will have built your own, 100% original, Adsense site. You will have an income, and these additional products can then be offered to your visitors. Start with traffic, start with your own web presence, and then think about the products you can offer those visitors. You give yourself a much greater chance of success this way.

There are the Nigerian 419 schemes, forced matrix ‘opportunities’ that would require maxing out the entire human population for just 10 percent of participants to ever see a penny, there are over-hyped Pay-per-click and Adsense scams, fake MLM and network marketing ‘opportunities’, and the list goes on and on…
At times like these, desperate home-based business seekers become easy prey for vultures pushing scam products and fake ‘opportunities’.
How to get scammed
- Accept every offer and every promise at face value.
- Give your money to others without thinking things through.
- Let emotion and promises of ‘instant wealth’ carry you along.
- Don’t bother reasoning through on whether or not a program might be a scam.
- Jump in with both eyes wide shut.
Those are sure fire ways to get taken advantage of. But what if you don’t want to be the next victim? How can you really know in advance if a program is a scam or not?
What You See Is What You See
An often overlooked tale tell sign that an ‘opportunity’ is a scam are the products themselves.
Are the products truly valuable? Can the products be sold at its current pricing, or at all, without the ‘opportunity’ attached to it?
If the answer is no then use the R.L.H. formula for protecting your wallet. R.L.H. stands for run like you-know-what (heck).
Also, look to see if there are outrageous fees or ‘qualifiers’ before you can receive a penny in pay.
And finally, does the program tell you EXACTLY what you will receive a commission for promoting, before they take your money? I’ve lost track of the hundreds of scams that have been sent to me saying ‘give us $39 and we’ll tell you what this biz opp is’. I don’t think so buddy…

Bi-Centennial Surprise
I joined my first biz opp around 1976. I was 12 or 13 years old. From then until I “wised up” in the 80′s I had joined hundreds of programs purchased through direct mail offers, income opportunity mags, and joined half a dozen MLM programs promoted by friends, family, and in some cases complete strangers.
I wasted money on envelope stuffing schemes, ‘blind ads’ for business opportunities that were nothing more than vague marketing plans for hypothetical ‘business start up plans’ that required coming up with 5-10 times the average national income in America at the time just to test and see if the idea would work or not. Of course, you couldn’t get a refund without trying the unreasonable and unproven ideas, yeah, I got ripped off on those purchases.
I tried forced matrix systems with junk info products and health products. While just a teen I gave up credit card numbers ‘just for verification purposes’ only to end up with $800 of worthless vitamins shipped to my door. I had fallen victim to online and offline chain letter schemes. And the list goes on an on.
Red Badge Of Experience
Fortunately it only took a few short teen years of bumping my head to finally come up with my list of ‘red flag’ identifiers for recognizing potential scams, and a few more to finally trust in the red flags.
Times are hard. The economy is in a slump. Gas prices are on the rise and so are home foreclosures. Con artists are desperate too.
People from all over are desperate for something that will put money in their pockets quickly. That desperation has put a target on their foreheads for scam artists and hucksters of all sorts. Others are not so desperate but are still looking for ways to increase their income without much hassle or work.
I Bet You Think This Note Is About You…
If either of those scenarios apply to you I suggest taking a close look at any program you are considering.
Verify the program has 3rd-party tracking in place to insure you will get paid. Better yet, look for programs that allow you to keep every penny you earn from reselling or referring the products to others.
What qualifies? Reseller programs and programs that allow you to keep all the money are the next best things to creating your own products — but without the hassles.
Also make sure the company is promoting real products that are being sold or have been sold without the need for an attached ‘opportunity’. Again, if products cannot be sold at the price you are urged to ‘get in’ at while things are “still hot”, you’ve found a scam not a real business.
And especially make sure there are no weird or outrageous qualifiers to finally receive the commissions you’ve earned.

First thing’s first. The first thing you absolutely need to do is become an expert in your field. Become knowledgeable in internet marketing or MLM marketing. Become an alpha male. Be a person who people want to follow. By being knowledgeable you become valuable. People are attracted to people who can guide them and teach them. If you can create value for people, people will be attracted to you.
Secondly, you need to market and pitch your knowledge instead of your product or service. Confused yet? Let me elaborate. When I was selling Real Estate I had a newsletter I would publish on a by-weekly basis. The information was pretty general. I published information on local Real Estate trends, market conditions, and home values. I provided good quality information which set me up as an expert. If one of the people receiving my newsletter thought about selling or buying Real Estate, guess who they would call? Do you think they would go through the phone book and play eeneie meenie miney moe? Or do you think they would call the Real Estate expert who would educate them on a by-weekly basis. If I was providing them with information and teaching them, and another Real Estate agent was sending them postcards about his company and asking for business, who do you think they would call? The same applies for any kind of business. If you can provide people with good quality information, they will come to you when they need your expertise. That’s when you get to educate them on your MLM or home business opportunity.
Thirdly, never ever pitch your opportunity upfront. Ever! Always offer a solution. If people want to find a business opportunity, offer them information on how to pick the right company. Educate them on what things to look for. Educate them on how they can succeed in internet marketing. Once they learn to like you and trust you, then you can educate them on your business opportunity or MLM.

( I shoot for 500 because some directories have a 500 word minimum.
4. Build a Killer Resource Box – the resource box is where you get to share your links and outside of the headline is the most important part of the process. Don’t skimp out here. What i like to do is act as if the resource box is a continuation of the actual article. I include 2 links, 1 to add link juice to the original article and the second to my lead capture page which is where the focus of the resource box will be. (That’s the click I want)
5. Post your Article – Post your article first in the place you would like to see on the first page of the search engines. I usually use my blog for this but sometimes I will use a specific article directory if I think it will have a better chance of getting to Google’s coveted page one.
6. Bookmark your Article with Onlywire – Onlywire is a social bookmarking service and I find if i submit my main or original article here immediately the search engines will pick it up and index it very quickly. Once the main article is indexed you can move on to turbo charge your results.
7. Spin and Mass Submit your Article – Here is where the rubber hits the road with Article Marketing MLM. Once you have created your original article it’s now time to syndicate your content all over the internet. A great way to do this is with an article submission tool.
